I've been feeling a tad under the weather lately; but since I'm feeling a little better today, I wanted to get a couple more pictures up from last week end's Omaha Quilt Show.
You've seen this quilt on the blog before ...
This is our version of The Farmer's Wife quilt that Ann made for the Papillion store. Love it, still working on mine - big sigh.
Well, I was really psyched when I saw Patty Kennedy's versions of this same quilt at the quilt show (yes, she made two - geez!)....
Same blocks, basically the same coloration of the fabric in the blocks. But by changing the sashing color, lightning up the setting triangles, and by changing the borders - it make a huge difference in how the quilt "reads". Don't 'cha just love the applique leaves on the one below?? And look... they both got ribbons -- yeah, Patty!
Since a lot of you are finishing up your Farmer's Wife and many of you are just starting on our next go round of this BOM - I thought these little pictures might be kinda timely for you. They did inspire me to stitch on a couple more of my blocks this weekend, too.
There was also several quilts in the show from previous Country Sampler Quilt Clubs, like this one..
and this one...
and this one (notice the ribbon too!) ...
And this one... for a trip down memory lane with Thimbleberries...
I LOVE seeing these quilts at the quilt shows!! I makes my little 'ole Country Sampler heart skip a beat. I am sooo pround of our customers and sooo proud of the great teachers and staff at Country Sampler - you go girls!
AND, speaking of proud (trumplet blow here), look at this beauty that won the Judges Choice ribbon and was made by our very own Carla Toczek, entitled "Sew Free, Sew Brave"...
Isn't it a beauty?? My color is a little off, but you get the idea. Carla wrote that at the time she was working on two projects at once and neither one thrilled her. What to do??? She combined them and used the star blocks by Adams and Allen, and the applique patterns by Jan Patek. Then, she worked up a whole new design and quilted it herself - WOW! Way to go, Carla, we're all very proud of you!!
