Last week we had a little visit from our Moda rep, Cheryl. This is the last fabric offering until Quilt Market so I took a couple of pictures just to tempt you with the new fabric coming in August.
First, we ordered Lisa Bongean's, "Little Gatherings" line of yummy basic background fabric, with names like raven, time worn, paperbag, piecrust, honey, brown sugar, walnut - all with vintage prints on them. Really neat!
And here's one of the quilts that Lisa designed from with the line, called "45 and Life to go". (At the Omaha shop, Carol already has "dibs" on making this one - these are definitely her colors.)
Lisa's going to be 45 this year and there are 45 star blocks in this quilt, so it's kinda named for her. (Ahhhh.... I remember 45.... well, kind of... it was a looong time ago though.) It's 55″ square and the blocks are 5″. Neat, huh? Lisa thinks it would be cool made with 10" blocks to make it into a queen - I agree.
We also ordered Sweetwater's new line, "Hometown", due out in August too. But first, a little back story behind the fabric.... A while ago the gals at Sweetwater asked people to send in the name of their hometown and the whole line was built around this fabric....
(Photo is from Sweetwater - it's much too professional for my limited skills!)
There's around 1,000 hometown names on this design and (yippee!!) Omaha, (my little hometown) is included!!! So here's the fabric....
Nice blues, rich reds, sunny yellows, cool grays...
See those two piles on the right side? They're canvas - ordered a couple of those too - LOVED 'EM! The weight of the canvas is a little bit lighter than in the past, but it will make it a little easier to sew with too. We can't wait to make pillows, aprons, and bags with these beauties. (Kelly... I can't just hear your little fabriholic heart beating a little faster with this line!! Ha!)
Market is less than a month away and I promise to take some pictures and post 'em for you. Okay, I don't PROMISE, but I'll try to remember to take pictures. Sometimes I get so caught up I forget to take out my camera!
YAY! :) Can't wait to see it "live" and in person! :) Thanks for helping me keep my need for new satisfied.
