I have been a bad blogger... a bad blogger with the best of intentions. October was waaaay to full of "stuff" that needed my attention and time just got away from me (Sound familiar??). Here's my list of excuses...
First, came the newsletter and the website - both seem to take a lot of my time.
Next, Quilt Market for five days (I do have pictures tho!).
Then, I got the flu for five days the day after I got back from market. Me and flying always seem to bring some flu or cold!
Next, I was back in the shops for two days and left for Florida for a week for a long scheduled vacation with hubby and three other couples (again, I've got pictures!).
Then, hubby gave me his awful cold the day after I got back. (I think I've been sick more than healthy for the month of October!) I still have it but at least it's not so awful as before... Sudafed has become a life saver - I'm probably on the government's list of people to watch for over purchasing sudafedren!
And then two days later, I left for San Diego for a series of doctor appointments for five days. I'm still in San Diego now, but thank goodness I brought my computer - it has been a rather constant friend since I'm here alone. I've caught up on all my google reader blogs and even added a couple more to more ever growing list of sites. Why doctor appointments, you might ask? Well, it seems I have some sort of rather rare nerve entrapment issue and after seeing a couple of docs in Omaha (who made the problem WAAAAY worse), I've returned to my old buddy Dr. Goldstein in San Diego.
But enough about me... how 'bout some "as promised" pictures from Quilt Martket??!
The first pic below is of our wonderful fabric rep, Cheryl from Moda. We meet with her early on Sunday morning before Quilt Market opened and ordered tons of fabric for arrival in January through April. It's really kind of like Christmas 'cause she puts a big pile of fabric samples in front of us and we get to pick and choose what we want to buy. I can tell you we probably bought waaay to much, but it was to tough to say no to all the beautiful for fabric for late winter and spring!
Here's the samples from French General's new line of fabric - LOVED IT, ORDERED IT!
Below is the quilt from Blackbird Design's newest line for spring. LOVED IT, ORDERED IT ALL!
Speaking of Blackbird Designs, here's a picture of the quilt in their booth. Their booth is always so wonderful and so inspiring. (Sorry about the "fanny" in the picture - I never said I was good at this!)
Another view - still with the fanny.... big sigh. Can you tell we LOVED this quilt? Ann has declared this is "her" quilt and as soon as the fabric arrives - she's making it! (Don't tell her, but I'm SURE she's making it for my birthday - she's such a good friend... soooo giving!) HA!
This is the book with the quilt in it and we've got in in the shops NOW! Yeah! These are big appliques and easy to do (or so Barb and Alma tell me). The quilt is pretty heavily quilted and then they put it in the washer to give it that "old tyme" look. Be sure and check out the ruffle on the quilt and the directions for it in the book - it's really neat!
Here's a couple of really cool quilts we saw at market... patterns in stock now! I THINK their from Mary's Cottage, a new pattern company for us.... but since I'm in California now I can't be sure.
Ohhh... And we got to see our newest Block of the Month (starting in January), Civil War Tribute, in person! Be still my fabric heart! At was really amazing and I'm afraid my photo skills don't do it justice!
This is a twelve month block of the month and all the details can be found on the website.. www.countrysampleronline.com - go to this seasons newsletter and check it out. Or here's another idea! Stop in the stores and talk to one of us!!
We even bought a bunch of the tote bags you see in the bottom of the picture above! They''re really neat and sturdy and will be perfect for you guys who are doing the BOM!
Whew.... that's a lot of pictures for one morning. There's still more from Quilt Market though... I'll try and post some more later tonight!
