I am always amazed at the difference that fabric choice can make in a quilt. This is a photo of a quilt we have hanging in the stores. It''s a from a Buggy Barn book called, Frightfully Crazy, and the quilt is titled, "If the Hat Fits" (The book is on the web site.... www.countrysampleronline.com ). It's such a fun quilt to make and last year we did several classes on it.
Neat, huh? But then I was browsing the web the other day and found this picture of the same quilt - different fabric.
Isn't it wonderful - really bright, fun, and funky! Sorry, I can't remember where I got this picture, although I do know it was taken at a quilt show. BUT... I think it's a great example of how different the "feel" of a quilt can be by changing the fabric. So often we want to use the exact same fabric that we see in the quilt shop sample. These pictures show what we can do if we just think outside the box when we're planning our next quilt.
Yup, I know that's hard, but think "baby steps"... maybe start with changing just one or two colors, or the binding, or the background. The more you work with fabric and color, the easier it gets... PROMISE!

you are SO right about fabric selection and the difference it makes. :) I love to see a pattern done in a variety of collections and fabrics. It never ceases to amaze me how much they change. :)
