Yup, it just arrived at both shops and it's gorgeous!! This is Jo Morton's newest line, called Stafford County, from Andover Fabrics and it's sooo pretty. We have 27 beautiful bolts and I want them all! I'm sure you've seen Jo's newest book... Vintage Journey ... but just in case, I've included a picture of the cover.
Last week was sooo busy! I'm still recovering... and it's Wednesday! First, we had our BIG bus trip on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday... over 300 quilters that needed to be fed, entertained, and expected a shop with tons of quilts, kits, fabric, patterns and books, etc. It went really well, but it's exhausting for everybody. THEN, I had to have the newsletter finished by Tuesday so it could get off to the printer. THEN, I needed to work a little more on the new website (we had a few glitches that needed to be fixed). AND THEN, last but not least, it was my mother's 79th birthday, so we needed a cake, and of course, I had to birthday shop not only for me, but for both my college kids (they're "waaay to busy to shop for birthday presents, mom"). So how do I make it through all the chaos?
Yup, these are my BBFs in time of crisis. Have you ever tasted Whippets? Ahhh, they are heaven! When I was a little, my grandma always had a box of Whippets for a treat. They're almost impossible to find and none of the usual big box grocery stores stock them. I FINALLY found them at a little privately owned grocery store here in Omaha, called Wolhers. It's quite a drive to get 'em but since I could only find them in Florida up 'til now, I happily make the drive to pick up three or four boxes at a time. Okay, it's really more like six to eight boxes at a time, but that makes me sound a little obsessive, doesn't it?! Let me tell you, Edith, there's nothing that a box of Whippets can't solve.
Another bright spot in my week (other that eating way too many cookies and candy), was that I picked up my latest long stitch project from the framers this week.
I can't decide if I'll keep it or give it away as a Christmas gift, but I've got a little time to decide. If you've never tried long stitch, but like to do hand work, you should give it a try. We have lots of patterns at the shops... along with all the necessary goodies that go with it and it's really fun to do. I think it's a lot easier than cross stitch. I always had trouble doing all that counting and although you do some counting in long stitch, it's not quite so continuous. Now that I'm older I have to use a little clip-on magnifier, but I'm okay with that... just happy I can see the little holes again!
Well, I guess I should take my shower and get ready for work. We've got a staff meeting tonight to talk about the upcoming newsletter for fall and winter that's coming out this week so I better get cracking! I'll try and write more later this week.
